“I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.” - Jean Cocteau, director, The Orphic Trilogy.

Not that there aren’t enough cats on the internet (I assume Tumblr alone accounts for 80% of the cat pictures online), but I’m happy to announce the newest arrival into the Lilith family, little Ezra the Pound.

My wife and I picked Ezra up at a shelter. Her mother tragically passed when the litter was born. Ezra’s definitely got domestic shorthair tabby blood, but I also think she’s got some shorthair Oriental in her, given the giant bat-ears, long tail and that she’s extremely vocal. (The past 24-hours have been an earful!).

Ezra (who weighs less than a pound, hence her namesake) now has the task of winning over our senior kitty, Pavlov. Pav’s been king of the castle for fourteen years, and he’s being extremely patient with Ezra as she jumps all over him, wanting to play 24/7. He’s definitely irritated, but it’s nothing a few nips can’t handle. He’s taking the new company like the champ he is.

Ezra’s already proven to be excellent in her lap-kitty skills, a boon to any writer or artist. She’s got a long way to go in achieving the Zen-master status of Pavlov, but I couldn’t think of a better mentor for her to have.

Say hi to the ‘Lilith’ family, little Ezra!
